(a) There is hereby established in the City a board to be called the Residential Board of Building Standards and Appeals, which shall consist of five members, all of whom shall be residents of the City, appointed by the Mayor. Of the five members appointed by the Mayor, one person shall be a licensed plumbing installer; one person shall be a licensed electrical installer; one person shall be a licensed heating and air conditioning installer; one person shall be a general building contractor; and the fifth person so appointed shall not be engaged in the construction industry. Vacancies on the Board shall be filled by the Mayor. The Mayor shall appoint one member of the Board for the term of one year, one member for a term of two years, one members for a term of three years, one member for a term of four years, and one member for a term of five years.
(b) Upon the expiration of the term of office of a member of the Board, his successor shall be appointed for a term of five years. Continued absence of any member from regular meetings of the Board shall render any such member liable to removal from office by the Mayor. Vacancies due to removal from office shall be filled for an unexpired term. Three members of the Board shall constitute a quorum. In varying the application for any of the provisions of this Building Code, or in modifying any order of the Building Official, affirmative concurrence of three members shall be required. No Board member shall act in a case in which he has a personal interest. (Ord. 2759. Passed 1-22-07.)
