§ 152.20 CURB CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
   When curbs abutting on any public street within the borough are replaced or new curbs are installed, they shall be constructed in the following manner and of the following materials.
   (A)   General. All curbs shall be constructed of concrete in accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M. The curbs shall have the following dimensions: a minimum overall depth of 22 inches, a thickness of nine inches at the bottom of the curb and of that width extending to within eight inches of the top of the curb, a thickness of eight inches at the top of the curb and tapering to the nine inch thick dimension at a point eight inches below the top of the curb, the taper being on the street side of the curb. The top of the curb shall be so placed that it will conform with the lines and grades for the curbs on that particular street on which it is to be placed.
   (B)   Forms. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
   (C)   Excavation. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
   (D)   Placing and finishing concrete. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
   (E)   Joints and reinforcement. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M, except that expansion joints shall be set at not more than 60 feet and at all curb joints two reinforcement bars (Size #4), 24 inches in length, shall be imbedded in the concrete. These bars shall be placed nine and 18 inches, respectively, below the top of the curb on the centerline. The portions of the bars extending into the expansion curb shall be rendered bondless with a coating of approved material and enclosed, in part, in approved tubes or caps which will provide a positive clearance pocket of at least one-half of an inch.
   (F)   Removal of forms. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
   (G)   Curing. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
   (H)   Backfilling. In accordance with PennDOT Publication 480, latest edition, and PennDOT Publication 72M.
