§ 31.24 CITY ENGINEER.
   (A)   Appointment. With the advice and consent of the City Council, the Mayor may appoint an engineer for the City, who shall serve for the term of the Mayor or for such period not exceeding the term of the Mayor, as may be designated by the Mayor and City Council.

   (B)   Duties; salary. The City Engineer shall make and submit plans, estimates, and specifications for any public work which may be proposed or ordered by the City Council. The Engineer shall also examine all public works under his or her charge and see that the plans, estimates, and specifications for the same are properly executed. The Engineer shall receive reasonable compensation for his or her services and the same will be provided for in the annual appropriation ordinance on an estimated basis.
