§ 2. COVER HEIGHTS, GAGES AND CLASSES FOR CERTAIN-TYPE PIPE.

   NOTES
B1 Bedding (see current standard drawing RDI-020) will not be required for corrugated iron, steel or aluminum alloy pipe.
24-inch diameter circular pipe is minimum size for cover heights from 30 feet to 65 feet.
42-inch diameter circular pipe is minimum size for cover heights from 65 feet and greater.
Inlet and outlet ends of vertically elongated pipe shall be fabricated circular. Transition from circular ends to vertically elongated portion in 18 feet (maximum).
Maximum cover height from top of pipe to subgrade shall govern class or gage of pipe to be used for the entire length of pipe installation.
The minimum fill cover height for entrance pipe is 0.5 feet.
Gage or class of entrance pipe for fill heights of less than two feet shall meet the following requirements:
   (A)   Gage of CSP shall be that shown for heights of two feet to ten feet.
   (B)   Gage of CAP and CAPA shall be of a heavier gage than shown by the table. Reduced tabulated gage number by two gages.
Example: 16 gage tabulated minus two gages = 14 gage required
   (C)    Gage of CSPA shall be that shown in the table
   (D)   Class of RCP shall be that shown for height of two feet to 22 feet.
As per §§ 157.101 and 157.102 of this chapter:
Corrugated Iron or Steel Pipe fabricated with 5% vertical elongation.
Corrugated Structural Plate Steel Pipe fabricated with 5% vertical elongation.
Corrugated Aluminum Alloy Pipe fabricated with 5% vertical elongation.
Maximum safe cover height for non-circular pipe is 15 feet.
