(A) The City Commissioner with the largest plurality of votes in the immediate preceding general election shall be designated to serve as Mayor Pro Tem of the city.
(B) When a vacancy occurs in the position of Mayor of the city, the person who is occupying the position of Mayor Pro Tem at the time of occurrence of the vacancy shall become Mayor of the city immediately upon vacation of said office.
