4-4-7: ANIMAL LICENSE PROCEDURES:
   A.   Any person owning an animal over four (4) months of age must obtain a license for the animal within ten (10) days of ownership or of residency. This provision does not apply to caged birds, caged laboratory type animals, and aquatic or amphibious animals kept as pets.
   B.   Written application for license shall be made to the city clerk which shall include: name, address and telephone number of the applicant, description of the animal, and a valid rabies inoculation certificate for dogs and cats issued by a veterinarian licensed in the state of Illinois.
   C.   A license shall be required for seeing eye dogs or city owned police dogs. No fee shall be required.
   D.   Nonresidents keeping animals no longer than thirty (30) days will not be required to make application for a license, provided they meet the license requirements of their resident community.
   E.   No person may obtain a license for an animal kept as a pet contrary to Illinois state statutes. The animals included are: lion, tiger, leopard, ocelot, jaguar, cheetah, margay, mountain lion, Canadian lynx, bobcat, jaguarundi, hyena, coyote, any poisonous reptile, or skunk.
   F.   Each license issued is for the specific pet listed on the application form. No transference of licenses is permitted. A duplicate license may be obtained upon payment of a two dollar ($2.00) replacement fee.
   G.   Identification tags must be worn by all dogs and cats and shall bear the name of the city of Countryside, a serial number corresponding with the number on the license and the calendar year for which it is issued. (1970 Code §12-4.07, as amended)
