(A) Members must attend a minimum of 60% of drills annually, eight of 12 meetings as listed on the official calendar, and a minimum of 25% of fire/emergency calls during each calendar year. These attendance percentages will be calculated as follows:
(1) Drills. An official drill calendar will be provided to each member at the beginning of the calendar year. Effective January 1 of each year, each member of the CFD will begin at 100% attendance for drills. For each regularly scheduled drill missed, the member's percentage will be reduced accordingly.
(2) Meetings. Regular scheduled meetings (12 meetings per year) are normally held the second Monday of each month; these dates may be changed due to holidays and the like. Effective January 1 of each year, each member of the Cottonwood Fire Department will begin at 100% attendance for meetings. For each regularly scheduled meeting missed, the member's percentage will be reduced accordingly.
(3) Fire/emergency calls. Each member must attend a minimum of 25% of fire/emergency calls during each calendar year.
(B) Percentages for the above categories will be calculated and provided to each member on a monthly basis as well as to the officers at their monthly meeting. Those members falling below the minimum percentage in any one and/or all categories during the calendar year will be reviewed by the officers at their monthly meeting and referred to the Chief. The Chief, or designee, will investigate the delinquency and will respond in writing to the member involved at the earliest possible time. Failure to maintain percentages for any of the above categories may result disciplinary action, up to and including termination of membership.
(C) Excused absences and leaves of absence will not count against a member's annual percentage. Exceptions may be approved by the Chief only. Members who are terminated for not meeting the attendance requirements may apply for reinstatement/rehire five years from the date of termination.
