For the purpose of this chapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
PEDDLER. Includes any person who shall go from house to house or from place to place in the town soliciting, selling or taking orders for or offering for sale or to take orders from any goods, wares, merchandise, services, photographs, newspapers, magazines or subscriptions to newspapers or magazines. The word PEDDLER shall also include all peddlers as they may be otherwise defined and all solicitors, hawkers, canvassers, itinerant or transient merchants or vendors of goods, wares, merchandise or services as the same may commonly be defined by state law or ordinance.
