§ 2-2-1: STATEMENT OF PUBLIC POLICY AND PURPOSE:
   The City Council hereby declares as a matter of public policy that the protection, preservation, perpetuation and use of places, areas, buildings, structures and other objects having a special historical significance is a public necessity and in the interest of the community and hereby establishes the Advisory Committee for Historic Preservation (ACHP). The purpose of this division is to:
   A.   Safeguard the cultural resources of the City by preserving sites, structures, districts and landmarks which reflect elements of the City’s cultural, social, economic, political or architectural history;
   B.   Protect and enhance the City’s attractions to residents and visitors;
   C.   Foster civic pride in the beauty and notable achievements of the past; and
   D.   Promote the use and preservation of historic sites and landmarks for the education and general welfare of the people of the City.
