§ 35.26 CAPTAINS.
   (A)   The Captains shall be next in rank after the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Chiefs shall assume command, as well as the responsibilities of the Chief in a fire or other emergency. There shall be one Captain for the career side and, if so qualified, as many volunteer Captain(s) as deemed necessary or recommended by the Fire Chief with approval of the Director of Public Safety.
   (B)   The Career Captain shall assist the Chiefs with ensuring the daily task, orders, and duties are carried out, and that all reports and records are completed and correct. He or she will have authority over career personnel to direct them with daily duties and task. Any day-to-day issues that arise will be forwarded to the Fire Chief or Deputy Chief for action. He or she will assist with the training of personnel by working with other officers to establish an annual training schedule approved by the Fire Chief for each year. He or she shall also maintain records of all personal equipment issued, and that on hand belonging to the Department or its volunteer company.
   (C)   The Career Captain shall be a member of the career force. He or she shall remain employed during his or her tenure as Captain and shall reside within a 12-air-mile radius of the Corry Fire Station # 1. He or she shall have at least five years of interior firefighting experience, served at least two years as a full-time career firefighter with the City of Corry Fire Department, and shall have served as a Career Lieutenant for at least two years, unless waived by Council by recommendation of the Fire Chief and City Administrator.
   (D)   The Career Captain shall possess certified training in the following areas:
      (1)   Incident command;
      (2)   Fire suppression;
      (3)   Rescue;
      (4)   Hazardous materials;
      (5)   Officer training; and
      (6)   Valid Pennsylvania State EMS certification.
   (E)   The Volunteer Captain(s) shall be elected by the city's volunteer company from those meeting their specific requirements. He or she shall assist the Chief Officers in carrying out orders and directing members. He or she will assist with the training of personnel by working with other officers and shall maintain records of all personal equipment issued, on hand belonging to the Department or its volunteer company.
