§ 35.23 DEPUTY CHIEF.
   (A)   The Deputy Chief shall be next in rank to the Fire Chief and, in the absence of the Chief, shall assume command as well as the responsibilities, of the Fire Chief in a fire or other emergency situation.
   (B)   In the absence of the Chief, the Deputy Chief shall assist with ensuring the daily tasks, orders, administrative duties are carried out, and that all reports and records are completed correctly and prepared timely. In the absence of the Chief, he or she shall have direct authority over career personnel to direct them with daily duties and task. Any issues that arise and call for disciplinary action will be forwarded to the Fire Chief for his or her action.
   (C)   The Deputy Chief shall be appointed as Deputy Code Official and assume all responsibilities as outlined in city ordinances.
   (D)   The Deputy Chief shall perform additional duties assigned by City Council, the Fire Chief and/or the City Administrator.
   (E)   The Deputy Chief shall reside within a 12-air-mile radius of the Corry Fire Station # 1. He or she shall have at least ten years of interior firefighting experience, served at least ten years as a full-time firefighter with the City of Corry Fire Department and shall have served as a career officer for at least three years with progressively increasing responsibilities, unless waived by Council by recommendation of Fire Chief and City Administrator.
   (F)   The Deputy Chief shall possess certified training in the following areas:
      (1)   Incident command;
      (2)   Fire suppression;
      (3)   Rescue;
      (4)   Hazardous materials;
      (5)   Officer training;
      (6)   Building construction; and
      (7)   A valid PA state EMS certification.
