(A) The city may hire an independent contractor to furnish ambulance service to the city at an annual expenditure not to exceed $5,000.
(B) The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract with an independent contractor for the furnishing of said ambulance service.
(C) Any contract for ambulance service shall not exceed two years in duration.
