§ 35.01 AGE LIMITATIONS.
   (A)   Minimum age.
      (1)   The minimum age for a career firefighter for the city is fixed at 18 years of age.
      (2)   It shall be one of the duties of the city’s Fire Chief to designate in writing to City Council one full-time city firefighter for appointment at its annual reorganization meeting, who shall thoroughly train, test and actively monitor any firefighter engineer driver candidates and current employees as may be required to protect the firefighters and the general public, and to protect and preserve the specialized equipment and vehicles of the Fire Department and the city.
   (B)   Maximum age.
      (1)   The maximum age for a career firefighter for the city is fixed at 65 years of age.
      (2)   In addition to the other federal, state and local statutes, laws and ordinances, including those criteria established by the Civil Service Board concerning physical and mental testing and evaluation, the physical fitness of any new career candidate shall consider and reflect an evaluation specifically considering the criteria set forth in NFPA § 1582, Section 6, concerning the Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Firefighters, as same may amended.
      (3)   It shall be one of the duties of the city’s Fire Chief and all other fire company executive chief officers to thoroughly train, test and actively monitor any and all firefighter driver candidates and current employees as may be required to protect the firefighters and the general public, and to protect and preserve the specialized equipment and vehicles of the Fire Department and the city.
