§ 150.37 REPLACEMENT OF BASE.
   (A)   For concrete or bituminous paving over a granular, sand or natural soil base, the base shall be replaced to the same thickness and with comparable materials as the base of the original paving. Crushed rock, crushed gravel and granulated slag are acceptable materials. This base shall be compacted mechanically to a density comparable to the original. The base so formed shall be brought to an elevation that will provide for the proper pavement thickness as hereinafter specified. The thickness of the base under bituminous paving shall be 12 inches minimum, and shall be six inches minimum under concrete paving.
   (B)   For bituminous paving on a concrete or soil cement base, the base shall be replaced with concrete as follows. Prior to pouring the concrete, old concrete or soil cement shall be cleaned and the sides and bottom of the hole shall be dampened. High early cement shall be used. The concrete shall be vibrated or rodded to remove all voids between it and the existing base. Concrete with a slump of one and one-half inches shall be used. The surface of the poured concrete shall be rodded or vibrated and screened slightly above the surface of the existing concrete or soil cement and then reduced to the proper level by floating after the concrete is partially set. Provision shall be made by the excavator for proper curing of the concrete.
