§ 93.20 SHRUBBERY AND TREES.
   (A)   No tree or shrub of any kind shall be planted closer than 30 inches to the street line or sidewalk, nor shall be allowed to grow closer than 18 inches, except at heights of ten feet or more, or with a variance approved by the Zoning Board of Adjustment, upon a recommendation from the Tree Committee.
   (B)   The following trees shall not be planted in front or side yards: poplar; willow; and cottonwood.
   (C)   The following trees shall not be planted in any area or district within the city: box elder and American elm.
   (D)   Trees may be planted within the public right-of-way between the sidewalk and street only if there is a minimum clear area of five feet from curb to sidewalk. All such plantings shall be centered in the clear area. Where no curbs exist, trees shall be planted three feet from the public walk, or future walk location. All trees, planted in the public rights-of-way shall be acceptable varieties taken from the “Standard Specifications for Street Trees”, or otherwise approved by the Tree Committee upon recommendation from an arborist or forester.
