5-2-1: FIREARMS AND DANGEROUS WEAPONS:
   A.   A person may not discharge any kind of dangerous weapon or firearm:
      1.   From an automobile or other vehicle, except as provided in subsection B of this section;
      2.   From, upon, or across any highway;
      3.   At any road signs placed upon state highways;
      4.   At any town road signs;
      5.   At any communications equipment or property of public utilities including facilities, lines, poles or devices of transmission or distribution;
      6.   At railroad equipment or facilities, including any sign or signal;
      7.   Within Utah state park buildings, town buildings, designated camp or picnic sites, historical sites and/or streetlights; or
      8.   Without written permission to discharge the dangerous weapon from the owner or person in charge of property within six hundred feet (600') of:
         a.   A house, dwelling or any other building;
         b.   Any structure in which a domestic animal is kept or fed, including a barn, poultry yard, corral, feeding pen or stockyard.
   B.   An individual validly licensed to hunt who is a paraplegic, or otherwise permanently disabled so as to be permanently confined to a wheelchair or the use of crutches, and possesses a valid certificate of registration may be authorized to hunt from a vehicle.
   C.   A person may not carry a loaded firearm in or on a vehicle, except as otherwise provided by statute.
      1.   A pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun is deemed to be loaded when there is an unexpended cartridge, shell or projectile in the firing position.
      2.   Pistols and revolvers are also deemed to be loaded when an unexpended cartridge, shell or projectile is in a position whereby the manual operation of any mechanism once would cause the unexpended cartridge, shell or projectile to be fired.
      3.   A muzzle loading firearm is deemed to be loaded when it is capped or primed and has a powder charge and ball or shot in the barrel or cylinders. (Ord. 14-02, 4-15-2014)
