150.06 STREET TREE PLANTING REGULATIONS.
The following regulations shall apply to street tree plantings:
1.   The species to be planted shall be listed in the List of Recommended Trees for Coralville as street trees or as permitted by the City Forester.
2.   No street trees shall be planted nearer than four (4) feet from the curb or public sidewalk or the anticipated location of a future sidewalk where one does not exist. This requirement eliminates all tree plantings where the distance from the back of the curb to the front edge of the sidewalk is under eight (8) feet in width.
3.   No street tree shall be planted closer than thirty (30) feet from the intersection of two (2) street property lines (right-of-way lines), or closer than ten (10) feet to the edge of a driveway. No street tree shall be planted within ten (10) feet of any fire hydrant or manhole.
4.   Trees shall be placed to avoid interference with the construction, maintenance and operation of public and private utilities above or below ground as determined by the utility companies and City Forester.
5.   All locations of any fire hydrant, utility pole, traffic sign, manhole, underground utilities, street light pole, mail box, and/or other obstructions located upon the street parking shall be on a plan along with the trees to be planted and submitted to the City Forester.
6.   Street trees and shrubs may be planted in cul-de-sac islands and boulevards, but prior to planting, a design plan and a signed statement in writing accepting maintenance responsibility from at least three (3) abutting property owners must be submitted to and approved by the City Forester. Such planting shall be subject to the same limitations as provided for street tree planting in street right-of-way.
