§ 90.20 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ANIMAL SHELTER. Any establishment authorized by the City for the confinement, maintenance, safekeeping, and control of animals that come into the custody of the City.
   AT LARGE. Off the premises of the owner, not under the control of the owner, or other persons acting for the owner.
   COLLAR. A band, chain, harness, or suitable device worn around the neck of a dog to which a license may be fixed.
   DOG. A member of the canis familiaris family.
   HUMANE OFFICER. The City Humane Officer, and is synonymous with ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER and includes his or her authorized representative and police officers. The HUMANE OFFICER’S primary duty shall be the enforcement of the provisions of this chapter.
   OWNER. Any person owning, keeping, possessing, harboring, or maintaining a dog.
   VACCINATION. An anti-rabies vaccination using a type of vaccine approved by the state veterinarian.
