The chief of police shall make diligent inquiry and examination as to all persons in the city liable to pay licenses as required in this chapter and shall aid the city finance officer in the collection of all license fees required by this chapter and to make personal demand at the request of the city finance officer therefor and report all parties delinquent to the city finance officer and the city council.
