Within the city, no person shall plant trees or shrubs between the street and the sidewalk and/or property line except that the owner or person in control of the dominant real estate may plant trees or shrubs between the street and the sidewalk and/or right-of-way of easement line after obtaining a permit from the Board of Public Works or its designee following the updated Planting Guide and Urban Forestry guideline document. Tree and shrub species planted prior to June 6, 2022, are not in violation but must follow the established maintenance guidelines. Failure to obtain permit is a violation of $250.
