13.08.110 Pits, meters and service pipes.
   A.   Responsibility of utility.
      1.   Standard water meter installation. A standard water meter installation is any structure that solely houses one or more water meters for domestic use or irrigation. The municipal water utility, at its sole discretion, will determine the location of, and after payment of appropriate fees will provide for the installation of the service line, the water meter pit and the water meter from the main to the customer's property line. In cases where the water meter pit and service line has been installed by others, under the direction and to the standards of the water utility, the water utility will, after payment of appropriate fee, provide and install the water meter. In both cases the water utility will maintain the water service line from its connection to the public water main up to and including the water meter pit.
      2.   Fire service vault. Where the customer desires a larger unmetered fire service connection whether this service is shared with a domestic service or not. The water utility will after payment of the appropriate fees make the initial tap/connection to the public water main and provide and install the domestic water meter, if required. The water utility shall be responsible for the maintenance of the tapping sleeve and valve.
   B.   Responsibility of the customer.
      1.   Standard water meter installation. Regardless of the location of the water meter service connection and pit, the customer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the water line from the meter pit and beyond.
      2.   Fire service vault. The customer is responsible for the property installation, construction and future maintenance of the water supply line from the point of connection, in the fire service vault and the fire and domestic lines leading from it, unless other arrangements are made, in writing, prior to installation.
