The board of public works and safety after recommendation of the city engineer shall determine upon what streets angle parking shall be permitted and shall cause such streets to be properly marked or signed, but such angle parking shall not be indicated upon any federal-aid or state highway within the city unless the Indiana Department of Highways has determined by resolution or order entered in its minutes that the roadway is of sufficient width to permit angle parking without interfering with the free movement of traffic. The board of public works and safety's authority regarding determination of angle parking locations shall not confer upon them any authority to 1) permanently designate traffic flow direction of any street within the city, or 2) permanently designate any street within the city as one or two way.
