A. The city prohibits pedestrian solicitation and/or distribution of information and/or materials of any type or nature to motorists using any public streets, alleys and/or roadways located within the corporate limits of the city of Columbus. This solicitation and/or distribution prohibits pedestrians from soliciting and/or distributing materials or information of any type or nature while standing or otherwise being within the public streets, alleys and/or roadways and in the public rights-of-way contiguous to such public streets, alleys and/or roadways, excluding city sidewalks.
B. This chapter shall not apply to licensed retail businesses that operate motor vehicles to facilitate their business on or around such public streets, alleys and/or roadways.
C. Pedestrians found in violation of this chapter shall be subject to a fine of one hundred dollars upon the first offense. Any pedestrian committing a second or subsequent violation within any one-year period shall be subject to a fine of five hundred dollars. Each act of or attempted act of solicitation and/or distribution of materials or information shall be considered a separate offense. (Ord. 99-18, 1999)
