All alarm devices and local alarms shall have an automatic shut-off which will deactivate the sound, light or beacon signal of an alarm device or local alarm within ten minutes after the commencement of such sound, light or beacon signal, except for an alarm attached to a sprinkler system. The police or fire may enter the premises to deactivate such sound, light or beacon signal which has not been shut-off within ten minutes of activation of same and which disturbs surrounding residents or premises. Such deactivation by police or fire shall be taken only after reasonable efforts have been made by the police or fire to contact the owner of the local alarm or alarm holder, or his delegate, as the case may be. Neither the police or fire nor the city shall be liable for any damages resulting from such deactivation. (Ord. 89-59 § 4, 1989)
