§ 156.37 DRIVEWAYS.
   (A)   Driveways exceeding 200 feet in length and/or 10% grade must be approved by the Fire Marshal in accordance with the established fire codes.
   (B)   A turnout 30 feet long by ten feet wide minimum shall be provided for any driveway in excess of 200 feet in length, to be located near the mid-point of the driveway, and not less often than 300 feet apart.
   (C)   Driveways serving single residential dwellings shall have an improved surface of at least gravel or aggregate road base of a minimum 12 feet wide. Driveways serving two or more residential dwellings shall have an improved surface of at least 16 feet wide.
   (D)   Driveways must be capable of supporting the imposed load of fire apparatus weighing at least 75,000 pounds per the latest edition of the International Fire Code, Appendix D (Fire Apparatus Access Roads). Where a fire hydrant is located on a fire apparatus access road or driveway, the minimum width shall be 26 feet, exclusive of shoulders, and shall not exceed 10 percent grade unless approved by the fire chief.
   (E)     Dead end fire apparatus access roads in excess of 150 feet shall meet the requirements of the Fire Code and shall be provided with a 120 foot hammerhead, 60 foot “Y” or a cul-de-sac having a right-of-way diameter of at least 100 feet, and a pavement diameter of 90 feet.
