6-6-1: EQUIPMENT:
   A.   Lights: Every bicycle when in use at nighttime shall be equipped with a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet (500') to the front and with a red reflector on the rear of a type which shall be visible from all distances from one hundred feet (100') to six hundred feet (600') to the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps on a motor vehicle. A lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet (500') to the rear may be used in addition to the red reflector. (1997 Code)
      1.   It shall be unlawful to operate a bicycle upon any public street, road, highway or sidewalk from dusk to dawn without a light and reflector as required by 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-1507.
      2.   The penalty for violating this subsection shall fall under the general penalty provisions.
      3.   This offense shall also be included as a no contest option. The no contest fine is twenty five dollars ($25.00). (Ord. 00-10, 2-28-2000)
   B.   Brake: Every bicycle shall be equipped with good and adequate brakes. (1997 Code)
