A. Obedience To: It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to disobey the instructions of any traffic sign or signal placed in view by authority of the mayor and city council or in accordance with the laws of the state, excepting on direction of a police officer. All signs and signals established by direction of the governing body shall conform to the state manual of uniform traffic control devices for streets and highways.
B. Unauthorized Signs: No person shall place, maintain or display upon or in view of any highway any unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official traffic-control device or railroad sign or signal, or which attempts to direct the movement of traffic, nor shall any person place, maintain or display upon or in view of any highway any other sign which hides from view or interferes with the movement of traffic or effectiveness of any traffic- control device or any railroad sign or signal, and no person shall place or maintain nor shall any public authority permit upon any highway any traffic-control device or railroad sign or signal bearing thereon any commercial advertising 1 .
C. Interference With Signals Or Signs: It shall be unlawful for any person to deface, injure, move or interfere with any official traffic sign or signal 2 . (1997 Code)
