Any unowned or abandoned dog deemed to be dangerous/vicious shall not be made available for adoption. Any stray, unowned, or apparently abandoned dog that bites a human being shall be held for ten days. At the end of the ten-day holding period, the dog may be destroyed in an expeditious and humane manner. The state laboratory for rabies shall test any dog determined to have been involved in a bite incident, and held for less than ten days as a result of death.
