The Chief of the Fire Department or his or her duly qualified assistant shall cause all buildings and their premises, and public thoroughfares to be inspected, except; the interior of private dwelling houses, annually to ascertain and cause to be corrected any condition that may cause a fire, subject to the standards of the aforementioned International Fire Code.
