All traffic-control signs, signals, markings and devices shall conform to the latest revision of the Manual of Uniform Traffic-Control Devices for Streets and Highways, published by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and shall, so far as practicable, be uniform as to type and location throughout the municipality. This section shall not be construed as being mandatory but is merely directive.
