In case of death, disqualification, removal from office, or resignation of the Mayor, the President of Council shall become the Mayor for the unexpired term of the Mayor, but shall cease to be a Council member.
Whenever the office of a Council member shall become vacant for any reason, the vacancy shall be filled by a majority vote of all the remaining members of Council. A vacancy in the office of President of Council shall be filled by a Council member being elected to the office of President of Council by a majority vote of the remaining members of Council. In the event Council shall fail to fill any vacancy within thirty (30) days from the date such vacancy occurs, then the power of Council to do so shall lapse and the Mayor shall fill it by appointment.
The person elected or appointed to fill a vacancy shall have the qualifications for the particular office specified in this Charter, and shall hold office for the unexpired term.
