At the first meeting in January of each year, the Council shall immediately proceed to elect a President of Council from its own number, to serve from January 1 to December 31 of the calendar year in which elected. The President of Council shall serve a one year term and an election will be held in January of each year to determine the President of Council from its own number for that particular year.
When the Mayor is absent from the Village or is unable, for any cause as determined by majority vote of Council, to perform the duties of Mayor, the President of Council shall be the acting Mayor, and shall have all the powers and perform the same duties as the Mayor, without increase in pay.
When both the Mayor and the President of Council are absent from the Village or are unable to perform their duties, the Council shall appoint an acting Mayor from their number to perform the duties of Mayor.
