(a) Each full-time employee of the Police Department shall, upon employment with the Village, be provided three uniforms, a utility belt and related leather gear, a winter coat and an all-weather raincoat, body armor and standard issue weapon. If the employee leaves Village service, the employee shall return all uniforms, coats, leather items, body armor and weapon provided by the Village. The Village shall replace body armor on the warranty schedule of the manufacturer, generally every five years. As of January 1 of each year, full-time police officers shall receive a clothing allowance of three hundred dollars ($300.00). An employee may carry over any unused clothing allowance to the following year. In any event, the annual clothing allowance, plus the accumulated carry-over, shall not exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) per person.
(b) Part-time employees of the Police Department shall be provided two uniforms, a utility belt and related leather gear, a winter coat and an all-weather raincoat, body armor and standard issue weapon. If a part-time employee leaves Village service, the employee shall return all uniforms, coats, leather items, body armor and weapon provided by the Village. The Village shall replace body armor on the warranty schedule of the manufacturer, generally every five years.
As of January 1 of each year, part-time police officers shall receive a clothing allowance of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00). An employee may carry over any unused clothing allowance to the following year. In any event, the annual clothing allowance, plus the accumulated carry-over, shall not exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per person.
(c) Each full-time employee of the Police Department, in addition to the clothing allowance, shall be allowed a sum not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) per year for dry cleaning of police uniforms and caps. When a full-time employee is first employed after June 30 of a given year, the allowance for dry cleaning for the balance of that calendar year shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00). Each part-time patrolman shall be allowed a sum not to exceed thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per year for dry cleaning of police uniforms and caps. Part-time patrolmen hired after June 30 of each year shall be allowed seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) for dry cleaning for the remainder of that year.
