The following guidelines shall be used to determine if a block of sidewalk needs to be replaced or repaired:
(a) Any blocks having a crack more than three-quarters of an inch wide.
(b) Adjoining blocks or portions thereof whose edges differ vertically by more than one-half inch.
(c) Blocks that have holes in them one inch or larger in diameter or are cracked and broken so that pieces are missing or loose.
(d) Blocks having depressions, reverse cross-slope (sloping away from the street) or a cross-slope in excess of one-half inch vertical per one foot horizontal.
(e) Blocks that cause a change in longitudinal grade of the sidewalk of more than three inches in five feet.
(f) Blocks where the surface has broken away exposing a very rough surface of coarse stone. (This condition is known as spalling.)
(g) Brick, stone or sandstone sidewalks are prohibited as primary sidewalks.
(h) All repaired and replaced sidewalks must meet existing specifications and be inspected by the Village prior to and at the completion of the repair.
