§ 150.18 LICENSE REQUIRED; FEES; EXCEPTION.
   (A)   All electrical contractors and electricians operating within the area affected by this subchapter shall first secure from said Northern Kentucky Electric Authority, a license, the initial fee for which shall be one hundred dollars ($100) for an electrical contractor and five dollars ($5), for a journeyman electrician. The annual renewal fee shall be twenty five dollars ($25) for an electrical contractor's license and three dollars ($3) for a journeyman electrician, all of such fees to be payable to the aforementioned authority and used by it for operating expenses.
   (B)   Prior to the issuance of such license and to determine the qualifications and the abilities of applicant, the Authority shall conduct examinations in writing, at such times as it may determine, upon receipt of a written request for an examination, such written request to be accompanied by fifteen dollars ($15) for an electrical contractor and five dollars ($5) for electricians, which fees shall be nonreturnable. Any electrical contractor or journeyman electrician who has more than five (5) years full time actual experience as such electrical contractor or journeyman electrician, shall be exempt from examination and upon application for license by such electrical contractor or journeymen electrician, one shall issue without examination. In all other cases the Authority shall issue licenses to applicants who have satisfactorily passed examination, and have otherwise established their abilities to perform electrical work in accordance with the regulations as established by said Authority. No original license shall be given without written examination, however, any electrical contractor or journeyman electrician who has more than five (5) years full time actual experience as such electrical contractor or journeyman and who has taken and successfully passed a written licensing examination given and administered by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union shall be exempt from the licensing examination requirements herein, and upon application for license by such electrical contractor or journeyman electrician, one (1) shall be issued without examination. No written examination shall be required of an applicant for renewal of license who applies during the effective period of an existing license.
   (C)    Nonresident electrical contractors and electricians shall be governed by the same regulations as resident electrical contractors and electricians. Electrician applicants of such classification may work on a temporary permit from the Authority until the next scheduled examination period.
   (D)   All licenses issued by said Authority shall be numbered consecutively.
   (E)   Apprentice electricians are expressly excluded from the licensing and examination requirements of this section.
