A permit to perform gas installation or gas fitting work shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of such permit, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days as prescribed in the currently adopted mechanical code 1 .
