15.20.090: LICENSING EXCEPTION:
It shall be unlawful for any person to do any gas installation fitting work on any fuel gas system and/or any gas appliance without first obtaining a license or permit as stated above; provided, that the owner of any owner occupied single-family dwelling shall not be required to have a license to do gas fitting work on the premises if work be done by the owner or a member of the owner's immediate family. In such case, the owner shall furnish a sworn statement to that effect, submit a proposed plan of installation, obtain the necessary permit required by the currently adopted mechanical code and perform the work and tests in compliance with the currently adopted mechanical code 1 ; except however, that an unlicensed owner may not do any gas fitting work in any building which is used as a place of business, apartment house or rental unit.
