Trees and shrubs provide a variety of benefits to people and to the environment. By providing shade and reducing heat from pavement, sidewalks and buildings, trees and shrubs aid in reducing energy costs. A city's trees help to maintain windbreak protection, abate soil erosion, muffle noise, reduce pollution and mitigate stormwater. Trees that are in good condition, can increase property values.
The purpose of this chapter is to preserve, protect, maintain, and enlarge the urban forest of Coeur d'Alene and to thereby enhance the natural beauty of the city. (Ord. 3565, 2017)
