12.28.220: SIDEWALKS; MATERIALS; THICKNESS:
All sidewalks shall be constructed of portland cement concrete. The mixture shall contain a five and one-half (51/2) sack minimum with well graded aggregate. The texture shall be approved by the city engineer. The exposed aggregate shall be allowed only in the area of architectural quality. All sidewalks exposed only to foot traffic shall be four inches (4") thick. Where sidewalks are exposed to vehicular traffic, as in the case of driveways and alleys, such portions of such sidewalks shall be six inches (6") thick.
   A.   In commercial areas, the driveway areas shall be steel reinforced with a minimum of six times six times six times six (6 x 6 x 6 x 6) mesh.
   B.   In commercial areas, concrete unit pavers may be constructed in sidewalks in lieu of concrete sidewalks otherwise required by this section. (Ord. 2214 §4, 1989: Ord. 1376 §3(part), 1974: prior code §9-4-9(1)(part))
