12.16.080: BARRICADES AND WARNING SIGNS:
During the performance of the work the permittee shall provide and maintain fences, barricades, warning and directional signs, flares, red lights, watchmen, and flagmen as may be required by existing laws and regulations and as deemed necessary in the opinion of the Street Commissioner, to insure full and complete safety to the general public. It shall also be the duty of the permittee making any excavation in any public street, alley or other public place, to place and maintain barriers at each end of such excavation and at such places as may be necessary along the excavation to prevent accidents and also to place and maintain lights at each end of such excavation and at distances of not more than fifty feet (50') along the line thereof, from sunset each day to sunrise of the next day, until such excavation is entirely refilled, and it is unlawful for the permittee to fail, refuse or neglect to comply with any requirement contained in this Section.
