A fire department is hereby established to prevent and extinguish fires and to protect lives and property against fires, to promote fire prevention and fire safety, to provide emergency medical services, transportation to medical facilities for sick and injured persons, to promote first aid and emergency readiness among the citizens and to answer all emergency calls for which there is no other established agency.
