1250.02   PURPOSE AND INTENT.
   This Zoning Code is adopted with the purpose of promoting and protecting the public health, safety, and general welfare of the community as well as achieving the purposes as set forth by a legislative enactment amending or replacing the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act in M.C.L.A. 125.3201, Sec. 201 of P.A. 110 of 2006, establishing the same purposes for a zoning ordinance. The Zoning Code, in general, seeks to:
   (1)   Further the implementation of the goals of the Clinton Township Master Plan, including the arrangement of land uses as described in the Future Land Use Map.
   (2)   Provide a guide for the physical development of the Township.
   (3)   Foster harmonious and appropriate relationships among land uses and compatibility with the environment.
   (4)   Preserve the quality and character of residential neighborhoods.
   (5)   Promote the economic stability of existing land uses and protect them from intrusions by harmful land uses.
   (6)   To limit inappropriate overcrowding of the land and congestion of population, transportation systems, and other public facilities.
   (7)   To facilitate adequate and efficient provision for transportation systems, sewage disposal, water, energy, education, recreation, and other public facility and service needs.
   (8)   To establish adequate standards for the provision of light, air, and open spaces.
   (9)   To provide for adequate drainage, curbing of erosion, and reduction of flood damage.
   (10)   Foster pedestrian-friendly environments.
   (11)   Define the power and duties of administrative and enforcement officers and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
   (12)   To provide regulations and standards upon which decisions for special land use are issued pursuant to M.C.L.A. 125.3504 of the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act.
   (13)   Provide penalties for violations of the provisions of the Clinton Township Zoning Code, or of any amendment thereto.
