9-5-6: BLOCK STANDARDS:
   (A)   The maximum length of blocks shall be one thousand two hundred feet (1,200'). All blocks over eight hundred feet (800') will ordinarily require crosswalkways at the approximate centers. The use of additional crosswalkways in any instance to provide safe and convenient access to schools, parks or other similar destinations will be specified by the planning commission or the city council.
   (B)   No specific rule concerning the shape of blocks is made, but blocks must fit easily into the overall plan of the subdivision, and their design must evidence consideration of lot planning, traffic flow and public areas.
   (C)   Blocks intended for commercial and industrial use must be designated as such, and the plan must show adequate off street areas to provide for parking, loading docks and such other facilities that may be required to accommodate motor vehicles.
   (D)   The lengths, widths and shapes of blocks shall be determined with due regard to:
      1.   Provision of adequate building sites suitable to the special needs of the type of use contemplated.
      2.   Zoning requirements as to lot sizes and dimensions.
      3.   Needs for convenient access, circulation, control and safety of street traffic.
      4.   Limitations and opportunities of topography. (Ord. 869, 11-5-2001)
