The Public Works Director shall:
(A) Supervise the Street Maintenance and Solid Waste Division, the duties of which shall include, but not be limited to: street, alley, sidewalk and curb maintenance, maintain materials and supplies inventory, traffic obstruction removal, snow and ice operations, aid law enforcement, traffic controls and street identification, prepare specifications and recommendations for new equipment, special projects, major capital projects, oversee contractor work, implement new techniques and equipment, street sweeping, solid waste collection;
(B) Supervise the Water Pollution Control Division, the duties of which shall include, but not be limited to: wastewater treatment plant operations, storm and sanitary operations, collection systems, flood control, major capital projects, prepare specifications and recommendations for new equipment, short and long range planning, regulatory compliance, pretreatment program, industrial user permits, lab work;
(C) Supervise the Transportation and Fleet Maintenance Division, the duties of which shall include, but not be limited to: city vehicle maintenance and replacement, preventative maintenance on equipment, mass transit authority operations, routes and parking systems, grant issues, special event transportation, accident and incident review committee activities;
(D) Prepare and administer the departmental work programs and budgets;
(E) Confer with the Mayor and Council on matters concerning major departmental activities and furnish technical advice on public works problems;
(F) Act as a liaison between municipalities, counties and state and federal agencies. Seek and apply for federal and state funds as approved by the Council;
(G) Administer the collective bargaining agreement affecting employees of the Department and perform other duties as assigned by the Mayor or by resolution or ordinance of the Council or applicable state or federal statutes or regulations; and
(H) Perform other duties as designated in the Public Works Director job description.
