The purpose of this chapter is to adopt by reference the provisions of the Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code which require the installation of approved smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms in all new and existing dwellings within the City. This chapter is intended to promote and preserve public safety, health and welfare through the protection of people by providing an early alarm of fire and carbon monoxide, and thereby preventing death or injury by fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.
