The following shall apply to riding bicycles on sidewalks.
(A) Business districts.
(1) No bicycles, skateboard, roller blades or roller skates, or any other wheeled means of transportation designed for recreation shall be operated upon the public sidewalk in the Lyons Business District on Main Avenue from the Flood Control Levee to North Third Street, and in the Downtown or Central Business District as indicated in the “Central Business District” row of the table included with Chapter 84, Schedule VIII (Bicycle Riding on Sidewalks), which is incorporated by cross-reference indicated below. This area is illustrated and marked on the map attached to this amendment and that map is incorporated herein by reference.
(2) The above designated streets shall be marked with appropriate signage as per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
(B) Other locations. When signs are erected on any sidewalk or roadway prohibiting the riding of bicycles thereon by any person, no person shall disobey the signs.

(C) Yield right-of-way. Whenever any person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk, the person shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give audible signal before overtaking and passing.

(D) Exemption. A police officer riding a police bicycle shall be exempt from the prohibition against riding a bicycle on a sidewalk.
