§ 115.04 EXEMPTIONS.
   The following businesses are excluded from the operation of this chapter:
   (A)   Businesses operated by persons licensed by the state under the provisions of the Iowa Code Chapters 148 (licensed doctors/surgeons, osteopathic doctors/surgeons), 148A (licensed physical therapists), 148B (licensed occupational therapists), 148C (licensed physicians assistants), 149 (licensed podiatrists), 151 (licensed chiropractors), 152 (licensed nurses working under direction of licensed physician), 152B (licensed respiratory therapists working under direction of a licensed physician), 157 (licensed cosmetologists) or 158 (licensed barbers), when performing massage therapy or massage services as part of the profession or trade for which licensed;
   (B)   Businesses performing massage therapy under the direct supervision of a person licensed as described in division (A) above;
   (C)   Businesses performing massage therapy upon a person pursuant to the written instruction or order of a licensed physician;
   (D)   Nurses’ aides, technicians and attendants at any hospital or health care facility licensed pursuant to the Iowa Code Chapters 135B, 135C or 145A, in the course of their employment, under the supervision of the administrator thereof or of a person licensed as described in division (A) above; and
   (E)   An athletic coach or trainer in any accredited public or private school, junior college, college or university or employed by a professional or semiprofessional athletic team or organization in the course of employment as a coach or trainer.
   (F)   Businesses practicing reflexology.
   (G)   Massage businesses licensed in other jurisdictions temporarily in the city for the purposes of training or providing seminars on massage therapy.
