Any business permit issued after the effective date of this chapter shall expire on December 31 of the year of issue. Any permit issued prior to the effective date of this chapter that has not yet expired shall be deemed to expire as of December 31, 2017 so as to place all permit holders on the same renewal application timeline. No person shall operate a taxicab, limousine or vehicle for hire, where service originates upon the streets of the city, without a vehicle for hire business permit that covers each vehicle for hire in its fleet. A vehicle for hire shall also require such permit or certificates as may be required by the Department of Transportation of the State of Iowa.
