§ 35.07  RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS APPOINTMENT; PRE-ASSIGNMENT TRAINING; OFFICIAL STATUS AND COMPENSATION.
   (A)   The Chief of Police shall appoint, with approval of the Town Manager, persons to be known as reserve police officers. Persons employed by the town in any kind of security, safety or law enforcement function are not eligible for appointment as reserve police officers.
   (B)   The Chief of Police may, at no cost to the Police Department or the town, conduct a period of pre-assignment formal training of reserve police officers as the Chief of Police shall find necessary for the performance of the required duties.
   (C)   Reserve police officers shall exercise such limited police powers as maybe delegated to them according to established rules and regulations adopted by the Council. Reserve police officers shall not be subject to, or acquire any rights under, the merit system rules, the police pension funds or any other employee benefits of the state or of the town.
   (D)   Reserve police officers shall receive no compensation from the town or the Police Department of the town for duties performed.
