(a) Unlicensed Watercraft and Motor Boats Prohibited. No watercraft driven or propelled by motors shall be operated upon any lakes, rivers, ponds or other bodies of water owned by, or under the control of the Board, except Rocky River in Scenic Park in the Rocky River Reservation for access to Lake Erie, Hinckley Lake in Hinckley in the Hinckley Reservation, the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie adjacent to Cleveland Metroparks. Watercraft operated on Hinckley Lake shall be operated only with electric motors, unless the watercraft is rented from Cleveland Metroparks, and operation of all watercraft shall be at a speed not to exceed six (6) miles per hour. Every watercraft, rowing shell, racing scull, canoe, kayak, rowboat, and inflatable shall be registered pursuant to federal or Ohio law. Sailboards are permitted, if the operator wears a type 1, 2 or 3 personal flotation device.
(b) Safety Standards for Operation, Equipment and Lighting. No watercraft shall be operated upon any lakes, rivers, ponds or other bodies of water owned by, or under the control of the Board that do not meet the safety standards or carry safety equipment as described in the provisions of Ohio R.C. 1547.01 to 1547.99 relating to watercraft and regulations of the Division of Watercraft of the State of Ohio, nor operated without lighting as described by Ohio R.C. Chapter 1547. Boat trailers shall be parked in designated areas, and exit as indicated.
(c) Boating Hours. No watercraft, except in Lake Erie, Cuyahoga River or Scenic Park in the Rocky River Reservation, for access to Lake Erie, shall be operated after 10:30 p.m. or prior to 6:00 a.m.
(d) Whoever violates this section shall be fined not more than one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) for the first offense and not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each subsequent offense.
